I was surprised the other day to realize that I have written over fifty blog postings in this blog. When I started 2011, I decided that I would commit to more writing with a focus on the theme of Communication, Collaboration, and Business. Rather than a specific plan for the year, I decided to be different and only focus on this theme, letting the blog postings come out as they will.
This is a big change for me. I’m big on planning. Setting goals. Striving to reach them. For 2011, I have a new goal — be myself. Let what comes up, come out. Go with the flow and worry less about the plan.
Each week, I have been doing two blog postings. Looking back at the postings, I realize that my approach has been organic. One step at a time. Letting one step lead into the next and then lead into the one more. Confucius said:
“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
Another famous truism is:
“It’s the journey, not the destination”
I am on a journey to let a couple of decades of acquired experience bubble to the surface. I’m confident that I’ll end up somewhere. And that by looking back, I will be able to see the threads the tie these postings together into a cohesive whole. Until then, thanks for sharing the journey.
You are so right! The tighter our laser focus on the goal, the clearer the steps become.
I enjoy your blog postings David, keep on writing,
Patricia
David, I too am on a more organic journey this year and I have to admit, at first, I felt like a fish out of water…but now…I am starting to enjoy this new groove.
It’s all just a big ol’ experiment anyways right?
Enjoy the shifts.
Isabelle 😉
