What’s it like to be 12 years sober?

Hi Everyone. I’m Coach David J. Greer.

Today I am celebrating an amazing milestone I have been sober for twelve years. Twelve years ago I was a daily drinker who finally admitted to someone else, my coach Kevin Lawrence, that I had a drinking problem. Kevin coached me into recovery and things have never been the same for me ever since.

At the time I was job less. I was out of a job that January. Slowly, over time, I got things back together. Kevin and I had cleared off all the other things that were getting in the way. This was the one big one that was holding me back. I did a series of executive positions helping entrepreneurs to move their businesses ahead until in 2015 I decided that I wanted to become a coach and facilitator. Largely motivated by what Kevin had given to me. Those gifts I wanted to give to someone else.

I won’t sugar coat it—it’s not easy. And I’m worth it. You’re worth it. Recovery has given me amazing gifts, has let me grow as a human being, and especially as an entrepreneur.

If you are an entrepreneur who is struggling with alcohol or an entrepreneur who is in recovery, but who is still finding challenges, don’t do it alone. Give me a call, send me a text, send me an email—let’s have a conversation. If it’s not me, then find someone else. Because it is almost impossible to recover from alcoholism all on your own.

What I’ve learned in recovery is that staying sober is a miracle. Thank goodness all I have to do is to stay sober for today. All of the other todays will look after themselves. I’ve managed to string together twelve years of one day at a time. I’m so thrilled I am still sober today.

I want to offer you hope if you are struggling. There is hope. There is a way forward. There is a way to live a rewarding, beautiful, wonderful life without alcohol. Get some help whether it is from someone else or from me. Give me a call, send me a text, send me an email. Let’s have a conversation.
