I used alcohol to power up to try and do more. I even used alcohol to keep me going late into the night while programming a highly complex software product. Today I know this is ridiculous, but then I thought that was my solution to doing more. The reality was that not only was I abusing alcohol, I was not looking after myself. What do you need to do to recharge and look after yourself so that you can be the best entrepreneur you want to be?

Many entrepreneurs struggle to schedule and take time to recharge themselves. If this is you, please call me at +1 (604) 721-5732 or Contact Me so I can share with you on how I make looking after myself a priority so that I can better be there for my business.

How did alcohol hold me back as an entrepreneur?

Hi Everyone. I’m Coach David J. Greer.

Today I want to talk to you about alcohol holding me back as an entrepreneur and from my entrepreneurial dreams. In the mid-90’s, when I was President of the software company I was part of, I was responsible for taking one of the major software product lines and porting it to another operating system. I felt like I wasn’t getting enough done during the day, so there was a period, quite a long period, when I started working after Karalee and the kids went to bed, so that I felt like I could get more done.

I was working on this highly complex software product. The way that I powered up for it was I drank. I used alcohol to power me up and keep going even though it was late in the evening, sometimes late into the early hours of the day. Now, of course, in the perspective of where I am today it’s ridiculous that I used alcohol to power up to do a highly complex task with a super complicated piece of software. That’s what I did.

I believe I was really just ignoring what I needed to do to look after myself. Because I didn’t look after myself, I was not the entrepreneur and didn’t build the business I think to what it was fully capable of.

Today I’m talking to you from our new sailboat which we recently acquired. I am reminded that after several years of not having a sailboat that having one again is one of the best ways for me to renew myself, to have rest, and to disconnect. I’m so happy that I have this as a tool in my toolkit to better look after myself. Because I know that only by looking after myself and being alcohol free can I truly be the entrepreneur that I want to be.

I know what it’s like to destroy yourself pursing an entrepreneurial dream. I did it with alcohol. You may be doing it with that or something else. It’s not worth it. You are worth looking after yourself.

If this sounds like you and you would like some help, give me a call, send me a text, or send me an email. Let’s set something up so that we can talk about it. Because you’re worth looking after yourself so that you can be the best entrepreneur that you want to be.
